Description

Mamluk rugs have a rich history that dates back to the 13th century in Central Asia, during the reign of the Mamluk Dynasty. Initially reserved for use by royal families within palaces, these rugs are meticulously crafted by hand with exceptionally fine knots. They are distinguished for featuring a prominent octagonal medallion as its central motif, which is surrounded by an array of sophisticated geometric designs adorning the borders.

Mamluk rugs are now being woven in Afghanistan and Pakistan as well. These exquisite handwoven pieces make use of only the finest quality wool to achieve intricate patterns that appear flawless. The wool is dyed using organic and natural dyes, resulting in a visually captivating look for these masterful handwoven creations. One striking feature of Mamluk rugs is their vibrant colors, with shades of red complemented by accents of blue, yellow, and green.  Due to its versatility in style coordination, this rug can effortlessly enhance the aesthetics of various interior designs. Owning a Mamluk rug allows you to experience a touch of history through an enduring art form while adding elegance to your space.

At Yamil Craft, our rug production follows eco-friendly practices that have been passed down through generations. Instead of using machines, we rely on traditional techniques to create our rugs, thereby avoiding the emission of greenhouse gases. Additionally, we prioritize the use of biodegradable wool, and our rugs can be used for decades to minimize landfill waste.
