Typically, Afghan households possess herds of sheep and obtain wool fibers from these animals. The wool is then subjected to dyeing using natural and root dyes in extremely high-temperature ovens. This dyeing process is repeated multiple times to achieve vibrant colors that symbolize prosperity and social standing within Afghan society. Notably, the durability of Afghan rugs ensures that they do not easily fade, allowing them to withstand the test of time when used appropriately; indeed, with proper care, these rugs can endure for centuries.
